Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the www.worldpedigrees.com website only. It is written in plain language and explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. Last updated 9 August 2026. We will update this page when our information handling practices change, so please check it from time to time.
Who we are
worldpedigrees.com is operated by Wild Systems Pty Ltd, PO Box 38, Terrey Hills, NSW 2084, Australia. Wild Systems Pty Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. If you have any question about this policy, or you want to exercise any of the rights listed below, contact us at support@breedmate.com.
What we collect
At all times we try to collect only the information we need for the particular function or activity we are carrying out.
To create and hold your account we collect:
- The account name - an arbitrary name you choose.
- Your email address.
- Your password.
The following is optional and is not required to use the website:
- First and last name
- Country
- Website
- Interests
- A member photo
When you log in we record the date and time, your device's IP address, and your browser's user-agent string (which describes the type and version of your browser and the operating system it runs on).
While you use the site we record your activity: the date and time, the pages and pedigrees you view, the breed database concerned, and in some cases the action taken. This is used to run the site, to enforce the daily query limit that applies to your account type, and to investigate misuse.
Members who pay the yearly "pro" fee can also submit:
- Pedigree information about dogs, including name, sire's name, dam's name, colour, sex, date of birth, titles and registration.
- Photos of dogs.
- Bookmarks of dogs, for faster access later.
- Trial matings.
If you post in a breed forum, your post and the account it was written under are stored and are visible to other members.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- Running your account and providing the site - account details, password, pedigree records, photos, bookmarks, trial matings and forum posts. Legal basis: performance of the contract between you and us.
- Emailing you about your account - registration, activation and temporary passwords. Legal basis: performance of that contract.
- Keeping the site secure and working - login records, activity records and daily query counts, used to detect misuse, diagnose faults and enforce query limits. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in the security and continued operation of the site.
- Maintaining the shared breed databases - a record of which account added or changed a pedigree entry, so that contributions can be checked and corrected. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in the accuracy of the databases.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not profile you, and no decision affecting you is made solely by automated means.
Cookies
Cookies are small data files supplied by a website and stored on your computer or device by the browser. We use a single cookie, called "WorldpedigreesSession". It holds a random session identifier, nothing else. It is strictly necessary to keep you logged in - without it the site cannot tell one visitor from another - so it is not used for tracking and we do not ask for consent for it. It is marked HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Strict, and it expires after one day.
We use no third-party cookies, no analytics cookies and no advertising cookies. Most browsers let you choose whether to accept cookies; if you block this one, you will not be able to log in.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Our hosting and email providers process data on our behalf and only on our instructions. Forum posts, and pedigree records you contribute, are visible to other users of the site by design.
Where your data is stored
Your data is held on a database server run by our hosting provider and is backed up off site. Wild Systems Pty Ltd is based in Australia and administers the site from there, so your data is accessed from Australia.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this means your personal data is transferred outside the EEA and the UK. Australia is not the subject of a European Commission or UK adequacy decision, so we rely on the transfer being necessary for the performance of the contract between you and us. Contact us at the address above if you would like more detail.
How long we keep it
- Account details - until you delete your account (see below), after which the identifying data is destroyed.
- Login records, site activity and daily query counts - 12 months, then deleted automatically.
- System event log - 12 months, then deleted automatically.
- Forum posts, and the record of pedigree entries you edited - kept while the site runs, but detached from your name and email address if you delete your account, so they no longer identify you.
- Dog records and dog photos you contributed - kept as part of the shared breed database.
Your rights
Under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and get a copy of it.
- Rectify data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erase your data ("the right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to our processing of it, including processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Portability - receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Complain to a data protection supervisory authority in your country if you think we have handled your data badly. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EEA it is your national authority; in Australia it is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
You can exercise the first three yourself while logged in:
- Your data - download everything we hold about you, or delete your account.
- Account details - correct your name, country, email address, website and interests.
For anything else, email support@breedmate.com. We will respond within one month.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and the session cookie is restricted so that it cannot be read by scripts or sent from other sites. Access to the database is limited to those who need it. No website can promise perfect security, so we recommend you use a password here that you do not use anywhere else.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.
